The project
2023 marked the 8th year of the Cape Verde project, and it continues to be a massive success. It all began when a couple living on the island of Maio reached out to Operation Florian with concerns over the medical intervention capability on the island. Their concerns ranged from emergency response to the continuing training and development of the responders.
Over time the project has grown to span across the beautiful islands of Maio and São Nicolau, with hopes to expand further across more of the Cape Verdean islands. The team’s commitment to excellence and professionalism has enabled us to successfully achieve all targets set by this ever-expanding project!
March 2023
The team flew out to the island of São Nicolau for two weeks to deliver familiarisation training on the fire appliance, pumping and ladders. They also conducted a refresher course in road traffic collisions, breathing apparatus and first aid training.
There are now discussions on how Operation Florian can further help the people of São Nicolau with intentions to provide another fire appliance in the near future as this is greatly needed.
Special thanks
Operation Florian are extremely grateful to all supporters of this project. Without your assistance these projects would not be possible. You have helped to save lives and improve community safety:
