Mercedes 4 x 4 Fire Appliance S393 TDW

Mercedes Fire Appliance registration no S393 TDW was donated by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Without generous donations as this Operation Florian would not be able to “create safer communities throughout the world”. This Mercedes was one of a number of vehicles purchased at the time by South Wales and brought into service protecting communities in Wales. Due to rough terrain in some areas these vehicles have the advantage of being 4 x 4. It was in service in Wales for over 20 years.

This vehicle was one of six donated by Operation Florian to Fire Services throughout Zimbabwe. It was driven to the “Africa Dock” at Teesport in the UK. From there it was shipped to Walvis Bay Namibia. It was then picked up by Harare fire firefighters and driven the 1500 miles to Harare City in Zimbabwe. It is now on the run giving vital fire cover in around the City of Harare which is the capital of Zimbabwe.
